Diese Bass-Traversflöte entspricht den erhaltenen Originalen etwa von Thomas Lot oder Charles Delusse. Zu meinem Instrument habe ich eine neue Bohrung berechnet. Deshalb intoniert das Instrument ausgeglichen über den gesamten Umfang der 2 1/2 Oktaven, was man von den Originalen und deren Kopien in der Regel nicht erwarten kann. Stilistisch lehnt sie sich eng an die Bb-Tenor-Flute von Thomas Stanesby Jr. an. Tonumfang und Griffweise dieses Instruments entspricht denen der normalen Traversflöte. Es besitzt einen vollen und sonoren Klang und ist leicht spielbar. Die Birne kann beim Spielen auf die linke Schulter gelegt werden, und die Klappen liegen so, dass sie eine bequeme Spielhaltung erlauben.

This bass flute conforms to the surviving originals by Thomas Lot or Charles Delusse. For my instrument I calculated a new bore.  Therefore the instruments intonation is balanced over the whole compass of 2 1/2 octaves, something that is not to be expected from the originals and their copies. Stilistically it is in the neighbourhood of the Bb tenor flute of Thomas Stanesby Jr. Compass and fingering are these of the standard traverse flute. It has a full and sonorous sound and can be played with ease. The barrel can be rested on the shoulder, and the keys are madesuch as  to allow the fingers a comfortable position.

Ich baue das Instrument jeweils in a¹ = 440, 415 oder 392 Hz mit fünf Messingklappen und wahlweise Garnituren aus Kunstelfenbein. Durch Austausch der Birne sind mit demselben Instrument zwei verschiedene Stimmungen möglich: 415 / 440 Hz oder 392 / 415 Hz. Kopf und Birne sind durch einen Messingbogen miteinander verbunden. Als Hölzer kommen in Frage: Prunus, Olive, europäischer Buchsbaum oder Grenadill. Die Metallteile können auf Wunsch lackiert, versilbert oder vergoldet werden.

I build this instrument in A = 440, (430,)  415 or 392 Hz with 5 brass keys and artificial ivory. By exchanging of the barrel there are possible different tunings: 415/440 Hz or 392/415 Hz. Head and barrel are connencted through a brass bend. As woods I use prunus, olive, european boxwood and blackwood. The metal parts can be laquered, silver or gold plated.
